Chachapoyas

A roof on a neighboring building being rebuilt using the old method, in place here for hundreds of years, a type of adobe, but without straw. It has a high insulation value, but if exposed to the elements, needs to be replaced at times.

One day, coming home from a short trip, walking back from the terminal there was this going on. No idea what it was, but clearly for the kids.

I looked for little rulers in the nuns' hands, but they were being nice that day.

Lining up before the parade in front of the local dignitaries - but not all was serious. I noticed this...

And this is where the tire hits the road. The high-stress zone for the parading kids, although followed by warm embraces by cheering relatives and friends.

They may not serve breakfast in the hostel, although they have a very nice kitchen for all guests to use, there are lots of little cafes, shops, and restaurants around to take care of that side of life.

These two finally whispered to me, 'Get out now, while you still can.' And so I did - immediately.

And so I left this very comfortable little town, and took the Moviltours bus to Lima
